It’s been a while, but I’m back! And this time with a totally new style of work!
As a fine art photographer, my journey began in the heart of the city, discovering beauty where others only saw decay and transforming urban landscapes through my lens. But over time, I lost that vision. The peace and satisfaction I once felt faded. After COVID, the cities became overcrowded, and the surge in tourism changed their character, making them feel spoiled and no longer the inspiring places they once were for me.
The harsh truth was, I was lost.
Then, after a profound inner shift, I left the city behind. Silence took over. In the raw, desolate, icy winter landscapes, I found something that truly resonated.
My work still begins with the camera, but the photograph is only the starting point. It cannot carry the full weight of what I feel—the strength, the softness, the roughness and tenderness all at once. Using painterly techniques, I build upon the image, making the landscape my own—felt, lived, and reborn.
I will be exhibiting with 4 works in the 22nd biennale art show in Poeke, Aalter. The Voice, The Longing, The Sigh, and The Homecoming.

The Voice (De Stem) represents that inner call toward something not yet formed, a longing for the unknown. It is a quiet guide leading me along solitary paths—through landscapes that give just enough to keep moving, without revealing everything.

In The Longing (De Hunkering), contrast takes center stage: the stark white cold and stillness of snow set against warm, golden grass swaying gently in the wind. A resilient beauty, steadfast and luminous.

And then there is The Sigh (de Zucht) —a moment suspended between desire and ecstasy. A breath reaching toward what lies beyond the edge. A sigh that says everything without words.

The Homecoming (De Terugkeer) represents the journey back to myself winds along many paths, each one unique, gradually converging into a single road that is clear, honest, and entirely my own.
My work is not merely a depiction of what I see; it is an expression of what lives within me.
The works are printed on Hahnemuhle Rag paper, and framed in a white wooden frame behind glass, unlike my previous works. Size is 150cm x110cm, a tad smaller than my previous work.
Come and have a look, the exhibition is open for the public from this Saturday 11th of October until the 19th. (visiting hours and activities click here). I will be present on several occasions, but definitely on the Vernissage (invitation only) and the Finissage on Sunday the 19th, from 11am on. If you come at another time, drop me a line and I will try to be there! @kasteel van Poeke
