“Focus on perfect imperfections”
I like to call myself a ‘global citizen’ ; I travel a lot and I have lived abroad for many years, I have seen beauty but also ugliness. Just like many others, I am always in search of ‘the perfect picture’. But what is that exactly ‘the perfect picture’?
I have had it with post card like views with blue skies and beautiful city views, and I now focus on imperfections. The not so beautiful world, the not so perfect models, and the dark skies or weather that everyone avoids become my main subjects. I look for anything that stands out, not by its beauty, and try to transform it into something that catches the eye. I am only happy when people actually like the perfect imperfection that I focus on through my work.
I use all kinds of techniques that a painter would use, my goal is to bring beauty, not reality. My work is art.
I finish my work off as a piece of art, which are on view in exhibitions and in my studio. You can also buy prints, books, cards and calanders in my shop, or book a photographic workshop.
What exactly is fine art photography?
Fine art is visual art considered to be something created for aesthetic or intellectual value rather than practical purpose. According to the Oxford dictionary, fine art is:
Creative art, especially visual art whose products are to be appreciated primarily or solely for their imaginative, aesthetic, or intellectual content. An activity requiring great skill or accomplishment
Fine art is essentially an art form practiced for its beauty. It’s all about why it was created and comes from a concept or idea derived from the artist. There is a difference between commercial and fine art. The purpose of fine art is to simply exist. Historically, fine art encompassed painting, sculpture, architecture, music, and poetry, but now includes photography, too.
